Take advantage of a complimentary Mountain Tour from one of Vail's knowledgeable Mountain Hosts as your guide. Learn about the the best terrain to ski for your ability, how to better navigate the mountain and learn its rich history.

Complimentary Mountain Ski/Snowboard Tours


During the winter season, Community Guest Service volunteers provide complimentary tours of Vail Mountain for guests with intermediate levels and above.

General Mountain Tours

Offered during the winter season and will depart from the Game Creek Desk adjacent to the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola and from the top of Gondola One at the Mid Vail Ski School desk each morning promptly at 10:30 a.m.

It is highly recommended to get to either location by 10:15 as each participant will be required to sign a liability release form before the tour. Each tour is considered a “Familiarization Tour” of the mountain and should last about 2 hours.

The Blue Sky Basin Tours

Offered during the winter season, this tour begins at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays, and Fridays, from Henry’s Hut across from Patrol Headquarters (PHQ) at the top of Chair 4. Please arrive at Henry’s Hut by 10:45 to sign a release form.

Recommended for skiers or riders with high level intermediate or above. 

60+ Ski with Us Tour

A weekly program for skiers 60 years of age or older, of advanced intermediate or above skiing ability. Complimentary all day mountain tour, Mondays only, provided by Vail Resorts through the National Ski Patrol Mountain Host program.

Meets at 9:15 am at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola at Gondoly’s Pizza on the first level of Eagle’s Nest. Departs at 9:30 am. Stop for lunch along the way at one of the mountain restaurants. Tour is limited to the first 30 people to sign up each Monday morning.

This is an opportunity to ski with a Mountain Host guide with impressive knowledge of Vail Mountain, its trails, and its ever-changing conditions. Optimize your ski experience while learning about the mountain, meeting new friends, and having a fun and social ski day.
