Make the Most of Vail’s Closing Day Weekend

Vail 100 Day Event Party Promo

As a premier destination for spring skiing and riding, and with Vail Mountain’s closing day fast approaching, take full advantage of the remaining days of the season. Check out our hot tips below to make the most out of closing day weekend:

Be mindful when layering: Once the sun is out, a shell or sweatshirt may be all you need. To keep yourself from overheating, check the weather before heading to the mountain.

Make sure to prepare for the sun: Bring a mini bottle of sunscreen with you on the hill, those UV rays are no joke! Make sure to drink lots of water, reapply your sunscreen, and wax those skis and boards with warm weather wax.

Have a Terrain Plan: Our favorite way to enjoy a full day of spring skiing is to focus on the groomers and play on slushy moguls. We love skiing and riding runs like Avanti, Bwana, Northwoods, and Swingsville. If you get out before 10 AM, check out the grooming report via our website or the My Epic App. If things get a little too slushy for your liking, head to après at Express Lift Bar or Avanti F&B.

Enjoy these Spring Favorites at Vail:

  • Ski. Ride. Après. Repeat.: Vail is known for a vibrant après scene and an abundance of live music, both on the mountain and in the village. Some of our favorites include the patio at Express Lift Bar next to Gondola One, the patio at Avanti F&B in Golden Peak, Garfinkel's in Lionshead, and the back patio at Vendetta’s. No matter where you go, you’ll hear live music from different venues around the village.

  • Relax in the sun at our on-mountain decks

  • Hawk’s Nest: Located by the Blue Sky Basin overlook just past the top of High Noon Express Lift (#5), this deck offers incredible views of Blue Sky Basin and Mount of the Holy Cross.

  • Henry’s Hut: A very popular lunch spot, located just to the side of Buffalo’s near Mountain Top Express Lift (#4). If you get chilly, head inside the hut and learn about the legendary ski patrol dog Henry.

  • Jebbie’s Deck: This is the easiest deck to find as you can see from above as you are riding Avanti Express Lift (#2). It is very easy to access, which makes it ideal for groups of all ages and ski levels.

  • Steady’s Deck: This deck gives you amazing views of the iconic Gore Mountain Range and the front side of Vail Mountain looking down into the Valley. It is located right off of Eagles Nest Ridge and above the Pickeroon ski run.

  • Windows Deck: Overlooking Sun Down Bowl and Mount of the Holy Cross, it is located off of Windows Road and behind the Wildwood Smokehouse at top of Wildwood Express #3. On long spring days, you can see amazing sunsets from this location as you share your favorite ski stories with your friends.
