Childcare is no longer available for the 2019-20 winter ski season. The resort will be closed amidst the continued challenges associated with the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Golden Peak Daycare & Nursery is the only facility of its kind on Vail Mountain. The Child Care Center offer a fun environment where your child can play during your stay with our experienced staff facilitating fun projects and play options daily, where children are grouped by age, as well as development. All children who attend the Golden Peak Daycare & Nursery are encouraged to participate but never forced.

The nursery at Golden Peak is open every-day for the winter season, November 15th 2019 - April 19th 2020.
Operating hours for the nursery are 8:00am to 4:00pm.

The Small World Nursery in Golden Peak accommodates children ages 2 months to 6 years old. Our center is professionally staffed and our lead teachers are trained in CPR and First-Aid, have training in developmentally appropriate practices, and have prior experience in childcare. Our qualified staff members provide a program of appropriate and fun-filled activities and projects throughout the day. Outside playtime is also a priority and we strive to take each child (over 12mo.) outdoors each day. Please note that outside playtime may vary depending on weather conditions and nap schedules.

Important Details
- Children must be picked up by 4:00PM. A $15 late fee will be charged for each 15 minute period a child remains in the center after 4:00PM.
- Online reservations must be made a minimum of 2 days in advance. Reservations and availability within a 2 day window must be booked over phone by calling (970) 754-3285. Childcare slots do fill up, particularly on weekends and during peak visitation periods. Note: Availability for walk-in participants are not guaranteed and will be accommodated as space permits for an additional $15 fee.
-Your reservation holds your child's spot until 10 AM. Children must be checked in by 10 AM or they could forfeit their spot.

Food & Naps

Our classrooms are peanut-free and all of our programs include lunches, snacks, and juice or milk for children over 12 months. Sippy cups are also provided by the center. If your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please bring a nut-free lunch and snack for your child. For naptime, we provide blankets for the children as well as cots, cribs, or mats depending on the classroom.

Ratios and Age Groups:
Infant Room (2-15 months)
With a child-to-staff ratio of 3-to-1, your little treasure gets plenty of TLC. Parents must provide disposable diapers, food, and bottles for the day. Staff members are able to follow each child's daily schedule.

Toddler Room (16-29 months)
For your toddler, we offer enriching activities that build motor skills and encourage creativity. A 5-to-1 child-to-staff ratio ensures personal attention for your budding artist or athlete. Naptime, outside time, a hot lunch, and two snacks are provided.

Preschool Room (30 months-6 years)
Socially and developmentally, preschoolers thrive in music, art, and outdoor play programs geared toward their emerging interests. The child-to-staff ratio is 8-to-1. Quiet time with a video, outside time, a hot lunch, and two snacks are provided

Micro Mice Cost: $49.00

The Micro Mice Program is offered daily between 9:30AM and 11:30AM. Available to kids ages 30 months and older participating in the full-day program at Golden Peak. This is a 30-minute real skiing and snowboarding experience that focuses on games that teach balance and beginning technique. Low student-teacher ratio optimizes learning and fun.

There is no need to reserve a spot, at time of drop-off inform the front desk staff if you would like your child to participate. Instructing is done on a first come first serve basis, arriving by 9AM is required if you would like your child to participate. Due to outdoor playtime rules and regulations set by CDHS, we may have to cancel the Micro Mice Program on days that are too cold or experience other forms of inclement weather. Ask us about it!

  • Half hour of skiing with low child to teacher ratio
  • Offered for children 30 months and up
  • Ski’s/Snowboard, ski boots, helmets and goggles provided
  • Must bring; gloves or mittens, snow pants, winter jacket and hats.
  • Only with full day reservation, child must be checked in by 9:00AM to participate
  • May be cancelled due to adverse weather, guest not charged until after child completes lesson

All children have assigned cubbies and hooks; nursery staff will label belongings as they are being used throughout the day. Guests are highly encouraged to label all belongings brought to the nursery in advance to expedite drop off and pick up processes.

What to bring:

  • All outdoor snow gear (jackets, hats, gloves, snow pants, boots, etc)
  • Indoor shoes (optional)
  • Food if own preferred; all food must be completely NUT FREE, as we are a NUT FREE facility. Food containing or from a factory where nuts are used will be thrown away immediately, guests will not be reimbursed.
  • Comfort Items such as blankets, pacifiers, stuffed animals, etc. Parents should be aware that we are not responsible for broken or misplaced toys/items brought to playschool
  • Sippy cups (optional); we do provide sippy cups and cups with lids

Infant Room, parents MUST provide:

  • Bottles
  • Formula/Breast Milk
  • Baby food
  • Snacks
  • Diapers
  • Diaper rash ointment if necessary
  • TOPICAL teething medications if necessary
  • SWN staff will only administer TOPICAL medication, when DETAILED instructions are provided and approved by Manager or Supervisor.

Enrollment and Illness Policy

Vail Resorts reserves the right to limit enrollment and/or refuse admittance to any child who, in Vail Resorts sole discretion, does not fit into the program due to age, adaptability, or illness. Children showing any signs of illness (i.e. cough, runny nose, upset stomach, diarrhea, fever, etc) will not be allowed to participate in our program for at least 24 hours after they are free of all symptoms. 

Note: Your child must be fever-free, without medication, for a full 24 hours before participating in our programs

A full 24-hour cancellation or change notice is required prior to the first day of the reservation. Cancellations made within 24 hours will incur a $50 cancellation/processing fee. All cancellations made after 8:30AM same day of reservation, in addition to any NO CALL/NO SHOWS will be charged one full day and remainder of the reservation may be cancelled. Your reservation holds your child’s space until 10:00AM.

If your child had a fever, diarrhea, or vomited in the past 24 hours prior to your reservation start date they may not attend the nursery.
Child Care Illness Policy


  • The child does not feel well enough to participate comfortably in usual activities (such as; extreme signs of tiredness, unexplained irritability or persistent crying).
  • The child requires more care than program staff is able to provide.
  • The illness is on the list of symptoms or illnesses which exclusion is recommended (posted in nursery lobby).
