Vail is linked by two bustling alpine base areas – Vail Village and Lionshead Village – each filled with dozens of shops, restaurants, bars and après hot spots. Lined with cobblestones and architectural features reminiscent of a centuries-old European village, these shopping and dining passageways are car-free zones allowing for an outdoor experience like no other. Window-shopping, outdoor dining, guided walking tours, kids play areas, ice skating, stream walks, fly fishing and free concerts are enjoyed here.
What’s more, the two villages are connected by a convenient free bus system, one of the largest in North America. Routes extend throughout the town, making it easy to enjoy the resort without a car.
Can’t find what you need in Vail Village or Lionshead Village? A third business district is located in West Vail and includes access to groceries, fuel, food and lodging.
To accommodate a day trip to Vail, covered parking garages are located at the entry to town within steps of the Vail Village and Lionshead Village base areas. Enjoy free parking for the first two hours or arrive after 3pm for free après ski parking. Close-in paid parking is also available. In the summer, the garages offer free public parking all day long.
