On Mountain Activities

Vail Mountain offers everything from fun, on-mountain activities like Ropes Challenge Courses and a Zip Flyer to trails you can enjoy on your own two feet - or wheels. With dining options at the top of both gondolas as well as live music Friday and Saturday nights, your summer trip to Vail isn't complete without a ride on Gondola One in Vail Village and the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead.

A ticket is required to ride up Vail's gondolas.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can always hike along Vail's trail system up the mountain and then ride one of the gondolas back down (no ticket required for download). The most common route: Berrypicker. Allow 2+ hours.

ADVENTURE RIDGE: Activity Central

Vail's Adventure Ridge is a beautiful ride up the Eagle Bahn Gondola out of Lionshead Village. At the top you'll find both kid-and-adult-friendly activities like zip lines, ropes challenge courses, a climbing wall, and a rebound trampoline - all at 10,350 ft!

NEW! SUMMER TUBING

Grab a tube and hop a ride on Vail’s newest activity! A new take on the mountain tubing adventure, summer tubing provides guests the opportunity to feel the thrill of the mountain just like winter tubing on snow.

ZIP FLYER

The 1,200-foot long zipline is a unique way to see the mountain from an entirely different point of view. Grab the handles and hold on tight as you fly through the air at 10,350 ft.

KIDS ZIPLINE

This kid-sized, 80-foot long zipline is the perfect thrill ride for your little adventurer.

CHALLENGE COURSES

Choose your own adventure with one of Vail Mountain’s High Ropes Challenge Courses! Put your abilities to the test when you traverse through obstacles while high in the air. It’s a fun and challenging activity for the whole family. After your orientation through ground school, you have the option to choose between our North course or South course.

KIDS ROPES COURSE

The Kids Ropes Course may be smaller than the North and South Courses, but it still provides ample challenges for our younger guests.
REBOUND TRAMPOLINE

Catch some air on a modified trampoline with a waist harness attached to bungee cords.

CLIMBING WALL

Put on a harness and scramble up!
MOTOR TOURS

Vail’s 45-minute Top of the Mountain Tour combines adventure with incredible summer views of Vail’s legendary Back Bowls, the Gore Range and Mount of the Holy Cross from high atop Vail Mountain in an open air vehicle. The 11-mile loop begins at Eagle’s Nest and continues beyond Patrol Headquarters to Two Elk before returning to the western end of the mountain.
