Vail Mike Wiegele Heli Prep Program

Take your skiing and riding to the next level with the Vail Mike Wiegele Heli Prep Program. Open to both intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders, this unique 3-day program will explore the legendary Back Bowls of Vail while preparing you for a thrilling helicopter skiing vacation with Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing in Blue River, British Columbia.

This in-bounds experience will refine your powder skiing technique and introduce you to snow science and backcountry skiing – all while gaining the necessary fitness to maximize your helicopter skiing experience. Your specially selected instructors are highly qualified, fully certified, professional ski instructors who have spent time in Blue River, British Columbia attending the very same training as Mike Wiegele’s ski guides.

At the end of the 3-day program, you’ll walk-away with valuable feedback on your skiing performance, a better understanding of your fitness level, knowledge of backcountry skiing safety protocols, information on helicopter safety, ability to adapt to terrain, and a renewed passion for skiing or snowboarding.

Each session runs from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm each day, departing from Vail Village. Students grouped into either intermediate or advanced level skiers with a maximum of 8 per group/per instructor.

Private Lesson

For a single-day experience, sign up for a Vail MWH Private LEsson to introduce you to the 3-day program.

Lessons depart from Vail Village at 9:00am and run until 3:30pm.

Her Turn – Explore Your Personal Edge
Groups are led by a select team of women instructors, trained to make your clinic an exceptional experience. You will learn in a fun and supportive atmosphere where we use video, individual coaching and a summary card to accelerate and anchor your improvements.

Girlz on Edge – Ski Excursions for Women

She Skis - Improve your technique while demoing women-specific skis on the slopes of Vail Mountain

Do you want to enhance your on-snow experience by honing your skills, trying new skis and increasing your knowledge of women-specific gear—all while having an epic experience at Vail? She Skis is a clinic taught by female ski instructors of Vail Ski and Snowboard School who are trained to offer a fun, supportive atmosphere. The clinic includes two days of ski instruction as well as the access to numerous pairs of women’s skis supplied by Vail Sports. We will use video, individual feedback and discussion to hone your learning experience. You’ll also receive access to an après-ski party on Saturday, a gift bag, complimentary equipment storage and discounts at Vail Sports.

Wedel Weeks

Pepi Gramshammer, former member of the Austrian National Ski Team and Vail pioneer since 1965 first introduced Wedel Weeks in 1985. The term 'wedel' refers to a type of short, stylized ski turn which has since been a very successful ski training method in the Austrian tradition. The aim of Pepi's Wedel Weeks is to get each person in shape for the coming season by working hard on the technique of intermediate through advanced skiers. It brings people together with other energetic and serious skiers for a week of strong ski instruction and social activities. Packages include lodging, instruction, lift tickets and more!

Margaret McIntyre continues to teach her highly successful "whole body" program in Vail. This indoor/outdoor program specifically teaches skiing movement awareness indoors, before going out on the slopes! This creates learning that "sticks"! To maximize continuity, top ski instructors participate in the indoor classes teaching the same themes on the snow. Margaret's program has a proven track record over 20 years for improving skiing for intermediate to advanced skiers, in a short period of time. Her simple method dramatically improves balance, control, coordination, movement efficiency, replacing old habits with new moves so that you will carve turns, tackle bumps and blaze through powder with more symmetry and ease.
