Ski & Snowboard Club Vail's Celebration of Winter

November 21, 2009

On November 21, 20009, Ski & Snowboard Club Vail members, friends and supporters will gather for SSCV's inaugural Celebration of Winter at Golden Peak. On the mountain's opening weekend, SSCV will christen our Golden Peak Competition Center with a community-wide party - complete with torchlight parade featuring SSCV athletes and any other interested young skiers & riders in the valley. Additionally, SSCV Alumni will also share in the grand opening and ribbon cutting, including Lindsey Vonn and other U.S. Ski Team Members. After ribbon cutting and fireworks, the party will migrate to Vail Village at the Children's Fountain for SSCV's competition bib art contest (for the kids!) along with food & beverage. It's time to celebrate a wonderful winter for 2009-2010!

Holidays in Vail

Let's start of the holidays with a celebration! Come to Slifer Plaza and Lionshead Mall on November 28th to listen to holiday music, performances by local choirs and the lighting of trees. The celebration takes place from 5pm to 7pm but there will be ongoing activities from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve. Ongoing activities include fireworks, visits with Santa, holiday ice skating show, family activities and more!

Vail Snow Daze

Free your heel and free your mind. Join us to learn new on-mountain skills or improve your current abilities. The workshop is from 9:00am to 3:00pm and all levels are welcome. Cost is $89 or $138 with a lift ticket (recieve $10 off if you pre-register).

Please arrive 35 minutes prior to all tour start times to get outfitted, etc.

3rd Annual Triumph Winterfest

January 15, 2010 - February 12, 2010

Artist Lawrence Argent & sculptor Scott Rella collaborate again for the third annual Triumph Winterfest. Approximately 7 ice sculptures depicting the human ear will be on view at the Gore Creek Promenade. This exhibition entitled, "are you listening?" engages the viewer to contemplate the interpretation of sound and conversation in this day of modern technology. The works will be illuminated at night by energy efficient LEDs.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. The exhibition will last until the ice melts, which is approximately 6-8 weeks.

Taste of Vail

In its 20th year, the Taste of Vail is the nation's premier spring food and wine festival, held at several venues throughout North America's #1 ski resort. During the annual four-day event, upwards of 5,000 people are able to "taste the Vail Valley lifestyle" which showcases Vail's world-famous resort village set against dramatic mountain vistas.

Participants at the Taste of Vail experience the Vail Valley's world-class restaurants, fine wine poured by winemakers and winery owners from top wineries around the globe, along with interactive seminars, auction and dance, the Colorado Lamb Cook Off, apres ski tasting and the popular mountaintop picnic sensory extravaganza at the top of Vail Mountain.

Proceeds from the Taste of Vail go to various charities in the Vail Valley.

Warrior Lacrosse Tournament

This is a youth lacrosse tournament that includes Under 17, Under 15 and Under 13 year old boys and girls. The tournament has over 48 teams attanding that will play in the valley at various field locations from June 21-24, 2010.
