The New Sun Up Express Lift (#9)

Video shot this summer.

We are proud to announce the completion of renovations of the Sun Up Express Lift (#9). This high speed quad replaces the Sun Up lift (#17) and provides access to advanced terrain in Sun Up Bowl and provides another access route to other terrain in Vail’s legendary Back Bowls. The new and improved version of this chairlift will increase uphill capacity by 65% and decrease wait times at other popular chairs like the High Noon Express (#5).

Forest Flyer Winter Operations

Along with another way to travel up the mountain, we are excited to announce a new way to fly down the mountain this winter. Our Forest Flyer, a guest favorite of our summer Epic Discovery attractions will be open throughout the winter season. The Forest Flyer winds its way 3,400 ft through the forest, following the natural contours of the landscape.

2016-17 Event Line-Up

Some of our favorite early season events are back this year. Snow Daze, our premier season kick-off event will take place from December 9-11 and feature free performances from recording artists Michael Franti Trio, and Lettuce, as well as après and after dark parties in Vail and Lionshead Villages.

From December 14-16, Inspired by the Norse goddess of winter, Vail Mountain will host the second annual Skadi Fest. From December 14-16, 2016, female skiers will be treated to customized on-mountain guided experiences with female instructors, evening VIP events, and female-specific ski equipment demos. United by a passion for skiing and the outdoors, Skadi Fest is an event designed by women for women and is offered for any level of skier.
