Parking Tips

For our guests looking for the best value in parking and have a bit more flexibility in when and where they park, Vail offers a whole variety of free, secure parking. Check out this handy map of free parking options.

The top free parking locations in Vail:

• East Vail Interchange at E. Vail Exit off I-70 near Bighorn Rd - 12 spaces
• North Trail Trailhead off of North Frontage Road W - 6 spaces
• Spraddle Creek Trailhead off of Spraddle Creek Road - 18 spaces
• Red Sandstone Park - 700 North Frontage Road - 15 spaces

Available peak days or Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 11pm:

• North Frontage Road by the West Vail Mall - 80 spaces (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Former Wendy's lot in West Vail, 75 spaces (Saturday and Sunday)
• North Frontage Road west of West Vail roundabout, 100 spaces (Saturday and Sunday)

North Frontage Road Parking - 80 spaces
The North Frontage Road by the West Vail Mall is available during peak days pr Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 11pm.

Donovan Free Park Lot – 90 spaces
An additional 90 spaces are available at Donovan Park, 1600 South Frontage Rd., from 7am to 11pm on days when the Donovan Pavilion is not in use. A sign will be posted at the entrance to indicate availability.

The parking area will be serviced by the Matterhorn bus stop and the West Vail Red transit line services this bus stop to the LionsHead base area and serives varies from 15 minutes during peak periods and 1 hour on non-peak periods.

Parking Structures
The parking structures in Vail Village and Lionshead offer the most convenient access to the mountain. For details on paid parking options check out the Parking Information Flier.

Arrive after 3pm for free parking in both structures!

Short-Term Premier Parking
Short-term premier parking includes 55 spaces on the top deck in Vail Village and 25 spaces on the middle deck of the Lionshead parking structure.

Valet Parking Options

• Mountain Valet, Inc. The pioneers of skier valet parking offer the closest, most convenient public parking available. Located at Golden Peak with easy access to Riva Bahn Express Lift #6, Ski School, and DEVO. Make your on-line reservations at: www.mountainvalet.net.  Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance or parking can be purchased on site. Supply is limited, reservations recommended. • The Arrabelle at Vail Square in Lionshead, http://arrabelle.rockresorts.com, offers limited on site parking steps from the Eagle Bahn Gondola.
• The Lodge at Vail, http://lodgeatvail.rockresorts.com, has a special offering all day parking at the foot of the vista Bahn in Vail Village with purchase of breakfast or lunch. (Price TBD)
• The Vail Cascade provides easy access to the mountain and no long lift lines with their on-site chair lift, Chair 20 Cascade Village Lift. Vail Resort also operates a ticket office right next to the lift for added convenience. www.vailcascade.com
• The Passport Clubhouse at Golden Peak offer limited parking. For information and parking availability please call 970-754-8020

Skier Drop-Off Locations

The Town of Vail maintains a variety of convenient locations for skier drop-off and pick-up. The four locations currently available are:

• North Day Lot on the Frontage Road in Lionshead; this is the best bet to sue for skier drop off, especially if the main parking structures are full! It is far less busy, and you’ll be able to get in and get out more easily
• On the top level of the Vail Village Parking Structure
• West Haven Circle at the Cascade Lift
• NEW - Additional spaces are available including 55 spaces on the top deck of the Vail Village parking structure and 25 spaces on the second level of the Lionshead structure.  The spaces are available for free 30-minute drop-off.

Ride Share Options

Front Range Vanpool Program – Save on daily parking

• Any employee vanpool (vehicles with seven or more passengers) registered with the Town of Vail can purchase a Blue Pass, Green Pass, Pink Pass or Value Card, or receive discounted guaranteed debit card spaces at the $12 non-peak and $20 peak rate.  Call Mike Rose at (970) 479-2349 for more information.

Tips on How to Avoid Parking Tickets!

Please do not park where “No Parking” signs exist or outside of where parking is approved in an area like West Vail especially. We are legally obliged to ticket vehicles if they are parked in these areas—even when the garages are full and overflow parking is allowed on the frontage roads. Please refer to all the aforementioned information for good and legal parking strategy advice!
