Are helmets required on the mountain? Should I wear a helmet?
No. Helmets are not required, but highly recommended. Especially if you plan on skiing/riding expert terrain and terrain parks.
Vail Resorts encourges our guests to consider the advantages and disadvantages that a winter sport helmet may offer. Regardless of whether or not you choose to wear a helmet, every winter sport participant shares the responsibility for his or her safety and for that of others using the ski area facilities.
Vail Resorts recommends the use of helmets for children 14 years and younger while participating in our children and teen ski and snowboard school programs. Rental helmets are available at our children's and teen ski and snowboard school locations for your convenience. Also, our retail locations carry a wide variety of helmets for children and adults. Parents (or guardians) who decide their child or teen (14 years and younger) will not wear a helmet while in ski and or snowboard school, are required to decline helmet use in writing on the ski and snowboard school release agreement prior to their child's or teen's participation.
