Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, who played Spring Back to Vail 2011 to rave reviews, will return to Spring Back to Vail by popular demand. Named one of the “Best New Bands of 2010” by Rolling Stone and one of VH1’s “Artists You Oughta Know,” the band is nearing completion of their fourth studio album, which will be titled “The Lion The Beast The Beat.” GPN will be playing in Vail just before their first ever performance at Coachella, and it has been rumored that they will play songs from their new album at their April 12 show.

Thievery Corporation

Eric Hilton and Rob Garza, the DJ duo behind Thievery Corporation, cite many different influences for the creative and interesting electronic music they make. Since the formation of the band in 1995, Thievery Corporation has released six studio albums and been nominated for a Grammy. The duo enlists the help of numerous supporting artists, from vocalists to guitarists and more, to add a full sound to the music they create. They plan to have a band of 20 supporting artists for their show at Spring Back to Vail – making for a concert experience that will not disappoint. Thievery Corporation will play at Spring Back to Vail on Friday, April 13 in Ford Park.

JJ Grey & Mofro is a Blues/Southern rock band hailing from Jacksonville, Fla. that has built an intensely loyal fan base since their debut in 2001. Grey is known for laying it all on the line during every single performance, leaving blissful fans and overwhelming praise in his wake. Grey comes from a long tradition of Southern storytellers and, in that spirit, he fills his songs with details that are at once vivid, personal and universal. His songs have appeared in film and on network and cable television programs including House, Flashpoint, Crash, Friday Night Lights, The Deadliest Catch, and the film The Hoot.

The islands of Hawaii are not only the biggest influence on IRATION’s sound they are home to all of its members. IRATION was born from a love of all types of music and a desire to create something new. Elements of reggae, rock, and pop are mixed with keyboard/synth and melodic vocal lines to create something truly unique. IRATION is best heard in a live setting where you can truly experience the full spectrum of their range. They have proven to truly have an understanding of modern and traditional performance techniques that keep young and old fans’ hands in the air and heads bobbing.

Is there a cost to attend any of the Spring Back to Vail concerts and events?
No, all Spring Back to Vail concerts and events offered to guests at no cost.

Where will the concerts and events take place?
All of the concerts and events will take place outdoors, so attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately! All venues are standing room only. Please refer to the concert and event schedules for specific locations.

Where do I park for the events?
You are highly encouraged to park in either the Vail Village or Lionshead parking structures on South Frontage Road. Street parking is not permitted until all public parking facilities are completely full. The Town of Vail also has an extensive public bus system. Please use it wisely and avoid drinking and driving at all costs. Vail PD, the Eagle County Sheriff and the CO State Patrol have zero tolerance and will enforce DUI laws to the fullest!

Is there handicap parking/access at the concert venues?
Yes, there will be a handicap section at all concert venues. These areas will be marked with signage. Handicap parking will be available at the Ford Park venue on the South Frontage Road, just across from the entrance to the venue. Handicap parking for the Vail Village concerts will be located in the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures in designated spaces.

What am I allowed to bring into the concerts?
Spectator security and safety is one of our highest priorities. A number of security measures have been implemented for the safety and security of event attendees and employees. Event management appreciates concert attendees abiding by and understanding the need for the policies and procedures outlined below.

Please leave the following at home, as attendees will be denied entry should any attempt be made to bring them into event venues: large bags/backpacks, coolers, alcohol/drugs, bottles/glass containers, cans, dogs, chairs, weapons of any kind (including, but not limited to firearms and knives), laser pointers of any kind, signs attached to a stick or pole, recording devices, professional still cameras and video cameras.

Please note that event management retains the right to make the final decision on prohibited items. Furthermore, specific concert or event security policies may create additions to the list above. All guests entering the venues are subject to search by metal detecting wands and/or pat downs.

Additionally, all small bags and purses are subject to search at venue entrances. Attendees will see an increased security and police presence both inside and outside the concert venues.

What exactly is Pond Skimming?
The "sport" of Pond Skimming involves finely tuned athletes attempting to defy the laws of physics and slide completely across a pond of icy-cold water on skis or a snowboard donning creative costumes.

How do I sign up for Pond Skimming?
Interested participants can sign up online by heading over to the Pond Skim tab and clicking the “Register Online Here” link. The event fills up quickly so get registered soon! Please note that the field of competitors is limited to a field of 75 participants ages 14 and older on a first come, first served basis. Registration is $75 per person.

Do I need to bring any equipment for Pond Skimming?
You must bring your own skis or snowboard, depending on your preferred watercraft. Costumes are definitely encouraged as a component of judging is based upon creativity. We will have lifeguards on duty for those who forget their water wings.

How will Pond Skimming be judged?
A select panel of celebrity judges will score each contestant on distance, style, creativity, overall impression and water solubility. The more outrageous the better! A full list of rules and judging criteria is available on the Pond Skim tab.
