The band’s trademark “sweaty soul music” features a polished four-piece horn section, a powerhouse rhythm section, and charismatic and multi-talented front-man Johnny Burroughs. A swing band, unconfined. Swing Je T’aime brings together the music of legendary two-fingered trailblazer Django Reinhardt with the panache and swagger of Pink Martini, and everything in between. PHIL WIGGINS + GEORGE KILBY JR.
As a longtime collaborator and sideman for Blues and R&B icons like Pinetop Perkins and Henry Butler, George Kilby Jr. has taken his music from the road-houses of the Southeast to the major music festivals of Europe. Phil Wiggins was half of the internationally acclaimed acoustic blues duo “Cephas and Wiggins” for 30 years. Wiggins’ plays the harmonica better than any blues-man around, making this pocket-sized instrument sing, howl and moan! This new partnership combines Wiggins’ masterful harmonica playing and Kilby’s unique songwriting to create an immersive bluesy, folksy new sound.

Jazziz magazine writes that Nelson Rangell is “an artist of depth, a master of song, and an improviser non pareil.” Such praise is a confirmation of what contemporary jazz fans have known since the Denver based saxophonist emerged in the late 80s: that Rangell is one of the most exciting and diverse performers in the genre, equally adept at soprano, alto, and tenor saxophone, as well as being a genuine virtuoso on flute and piccolo.
