Festival Director Damian Woetzel curates and hosts this evening of world premieres specially commissioned for VIDF’s 25th anniversary, including a new creation by legendary modern dance master Paul Taylor which will mark the choreographer’s 139th work and will be performed by the Paul Taylor Dance Company.
Other acclaimed choreographers presenting new works include Larry Keigwin, who will premiere a ballet featuring his own Keigwin+Company joined by stars from the International Evenings of Dance; Memphis jooker Charles “Lil Buck” Riley, who will assemble a cast of urban dance stars; contemporary dance poet Brian Brooks; and modern dancer Fang-Yi Sheu.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Vail International Dance Festival is a treasured celebration of dance, renowned for its artistic excellence and unparalleled programming. Performances will take place July 28 through August 10 at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail and the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek, while community events will be held in the streets and villages throughout the Vail Valley. Under the leadership of Artistic Director and former New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Damian Woetzel, the 2013 Vail International Dance Festival (VIDF) will host a total of 11 performances. The event’s spirited atmosphere transforms Vail into a culturally rich environment that is inviting to dance aficionados and newcomers alike.
