BRAHMS: String Sextet in B-flat major, Op. 18

In 1860 the 27-year-old Johannes Brahms was inspired by his new position as director of the chorus and orchestra at Lippe, his musicians' dedicated music-making and bucolic surroundings to compose his String Sextet in B-flat major, a work of lyricism and sunny spirit that is one of the first evidences of his mature genius.
