The electrifying young cellist Alisa Weilerstein, winner of a 2011 MacArthur "Genius" Award, takes the stage in the profound and highly personal Shostakovich Concerto No. 1. Rachmaninoff's romantic Symphony No. 2 is a perfect vehicle for The Philadelphia Orchestra’s legendary string section.
