It's time for the other mountain experience. Need a day off the slopes? Maybe looking for something different? Try one of our Nordic experiences. Take a backcountry Snowshoe or XC tour in the beautiful white river national forest, or learn new skills like Telemark and XC skiing. Whatever your desires we have an alternative for you.

All group tours & lessons for ages 14 and up unless otherwise noted or discretion of Nordic Department for 2009 - 2010 adventures.

The Vail Nordic School operates under special use permit with the White River National Forest.

For all abilities. Our group leaders will take you into the surrounding wilderness as you learn about the area history, wildlife and natural surroundings.

Daily Group Tours

Our tours for the beginner on up utilize the spectacular wilderness areas that surround Vail. Cross-Country skiing is where it all started. Come join us!

Beginner AM Tour

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays

Tele Fest
Come and join us for a day of tele fun on the mountain Feb. 27th at 9am for clinics, fun, goodies, and more. Call for more information and pre-registration. Costumes encouraged!

Skin & Ski Tour: Join us for a day out exploring the wilderness on your Telemark skis and learn more about avalanches, touring w/ skins, and more. All avalanche equipment and skins provided; guest needs tele equipment and food. Fridays 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cost $119/person Min of 2 required.

Lunch Tour: Form your own group and enjoy a XC or Snowshoe into the beautiful wilderness around Vail and then have a picnic lunch on us. Tours are from 10:30 – 2:00, cost $119.00/person, min 3 - max 8. This tour requires a 48 hr advanced booking and is offered W-Sa.

NEW - Hut Trips: Two-day trip meets 9 am day 1 – returns late afternoon day 2. There is a pre-trip meeting the evening before at 4:30 at Golden Peak Nordic. Includes guides, equipment, hut fees, transportation to trailheads, meals, etc. $449 per person with a minimum of 3 people. Dates currently available are:

· 1/19/10 to 1/20/10 Tuesday-Wednesday
· 3/8/10 to 3/9/10 Monday-Tuesday

We are happy to accommodate your group of 3 or more with other trip dates based on Hut availability. The sooner you call the better chance of availability. We recommend pre-booking 6 weeks in advance. Please call us at 970-754-3200.

The following are all offered as privates with our Special Nordic Pricing of $459.00 for full day 9:00-3:30 or $299.00 for half day 9:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00. This price is good for up to 6 in a group and includes equipment unless noted. Offer is not available for on mountain Telemark privates see alpine pricing. Please call ahead for availability. Reservations Recommended.

All Standard Tours

Beacon and Shovel Tour - Intro to avalanche awareness. Offered as Half Day Tour.

Family Tracks Tour - This is our special tour to get the whole family out, ages 6-on up. Snowshoes provided but youth will need their own snow boots. Offered as Half Day Tour.
