Terrain Parks

Vail has 3 terrain parks varying from pro-style features in the Golden Peak Park to beginner and kid's sized jumps, boxes, and rails in the Simba and Pride parks under the Eagle Bahn Gondola.

Golden Peak Terrain Park is open! Moving the half pipe to the bottom of Golden Peak has opened up the spacing for the jump lines this year. Our 22 foot Half Pipe at the site of the 2013 Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships attracts professionals and praise from all over the world. The 22 foot half pipe is open to the public for the year before and after the event. The Bwana and Pride Parks contain smaller features to help work on your skills.

Smart Style vail safety

FREESTYLE TERRAIN AREAS
are designated with an orange oval and may contain jumps, hits, ramps, banks, fun boxes, jibs, rails, half pipes, quarter pipes, snowcross, bump terrain and other constructed or natural terrain features. Prior to using Freestyle Terrain, you are responsible for familiarizing yourself with Freestyle Terrain and obeying all instructions, warnings and signs.

Helmet use is encouraged! Watch a short film about helmet use.

Freestyle skills require maintaining control on the ground and in the air. Use of Freestyle Terrain exposes you to the risk of serious injury or death. Inverted aerials are not recommended. You assume the risk. Freestyle Terrain has designations for size. Start small and work your way up. Designations are relative to this ski area.

Smart Style Vail Terrain Park Safety

MAKE A PLAN. Every time you use Freestyle Terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use. Your speed, approach and takeoff will directly affect your maneuver and landing.

LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP. You are responsible for inspecting Freestyle Terrain before initial use and throughout the day. The features vary in size and change constantly due to snow conditions, weather, usage, grooming and time of day. Do not jump blindly. Use a spotter when necessary.

EASY STYLE IT. Always ride or ski in control and within your ability level. Do not attempt Freestyle Terrain unless you have sufficient ability and experience to do so safely. You control the degree of difficulty you will encounter in using Freestyle Terrain, both on the ground and in the air.

RESPECT GETS RESPECT. Respect Freestyle Terrain and others. Only one person on a feature at a time. Wait your turn and call your start. Always clear the landing area quickly. Respect all signs and do not enter Freestyle Terrain or use features when closed.

EXTREME TERRAIN contains cliffs, very steep slopes as well as rocks and other hazards. Skiing or boarding Extreme Terrain is for EXPERTS ONLY.

Golden Peak is home to our largest terrain park located under the Riva Bahn chairlift. It is only a five minute lap on the high speed quad which delivers you right to the top of the park. We have two half pipes, a 13’ to get you warmed up and an new 22’ once you have mastered the mini pipe. The Super Pipe is cut and groomed when conditions warrant and every Friday through Sunday.

A total of 9 jumps are available ranging in sizes from 10’ to 50’. Our smallest features can be found on the skiers left side of the park.

We have over 30 jibs, boxes and rails to test your skills. This season we have added 10 new features. Checkout the recycled snowmaking pipes and pyramid shooter box.

In the Lower Golden Peak Park you will find some of our signature rails and boxes as well as our largest jump. This is an advanced rider and skier area only.
On the western side of the mountain, Bwana Park can be accessed via the Gondola or Chair 8. We have 25 features focused on progression with a beginner line along the skier’s right side from top to bottom. Check out the “Shred Bench” with a few bonks and stall features.

New this season, we have two medium jumps at the bottom of the park. If you’re not ready for those, you can still catch some air on the small line right next to them.

Pride Park is located under Chair 26 just below Eagle’s Nest. It is home to some fun snow features and one of our new milled log slides. Lap the gondola all day connecting Pride with Bwana for beginner to intermediate features.
